Mamio, the statuette of fertility in Kurumba country disappeared one morning in 1991 from the village of Ouré in north-eastern Burkina Faso.
Ten years later thanks to the combined efforts of Pr. Kiethega, a prominent researcher from the University of Ouagadougou and the international community, she was found in Germany then brought back among his family on December 16, 2001 in Pobe Mengao.
Beyond this misadventure of Mamio, it is entire treasures that disappear from our villages, under the devastating effect of traffickers, helped by a precarious economic situation in the villages and encouraged by antique dealers ready to sell their soul.
