Soweto - SOuth WEstern TOwnship, south of Johannesburg, South Africa is the birth place of this well respected musician, composer, producer & music educator.

concord nkabindeConcord Nkabinde's interest in music began around the age of 10, in church. He got involved with many gospel music bands in Soweto and later ventured into the broader scope of the secular music industry. Having dived straight into the deep end, Concord became convinced that he needed to acquire more knowledge and experience. This led to him pursuing a Bachelor of Music Degree in Jazz Studies at the University of Natal, Durban. From there, he went on to teach music full-time in Soweto & Johannesburg, before deciding to pursue a career as a studio and touring musician.

Within a short time frame, Concord became a highly sought after bass guitarist, working with the likes of Abdullah Ibrahim, Zim Ngqawana, Hugh Masekela, Ray Phiri and many others. During this period Concord also honed his leadership skills as a musical director and recording producer. His work as a producer includes recordings by Joyous Celebration 1, Wendy Mseleku - "Picking up the pieces" and Tsunami - "From clay".

Concord Nkabinde's work has not only been confined to the borders of South Africa. He has toured internationally with Johnny Clegg, Zim Ngqawana, Darius Brubeck, Deepak Ram, Ray Phiri and Gito Baloi, to name but a few. Concord has also assisted numerous international performing artists who have toured South Africa, such as Roy Ayers (USA), Colin "Black" Vearncombe (U.K.), Sergio Diaz (Brazil), Efrain Toro (Puerto Rico) and others.

Concord has a driving passion for cross-cultural collaboration projects. The mission of breaking down virtual boundaries that tend to divide people is a path he has embraced with both hands and heart. This passion led him to involvement in a few projects of this nature: Shuttle 99 - South Africa & Nordic countries (1998/99); Beyond the rainbow - China & South Africa(2001); Gathering Forces - Jazz & Classical Indian music (1994/97); Southern Cross - South Africa & Brazil (1994); Two Nations - U.K. & South Africa (1997); Imbizo - Finland & South Africa (2003).

Having had so much experience from working with musicians from Jazz to Rock, from Gospel to traditional African styles and anything in between, Concord is now finding his own sound and direction. This is a journey he would like to share with you.

Soweto - SOuth WEstern TOwnship, südlich von Johannesburg in Südafrika, ist der Geburtsort dieses sehr geschätzten Musikers, Komponisten, Produzenten und Mu-sikpädagogen.

Concord Nkabinde's Interesse an der Musik begann im Alter von 10 Jahren in der Kirche. Er kam in Kontakt mit vielen Gospelbands in Soweto und wagte sich später ins breitere Spektrum der weltlichen Musikindustrie. Dieser überwältigende Wir-kungskreis überzeugte Concord, dass er sich mehr Wissen und Erfahrung aneignen musste. Dies führte dazu, dass er den ?Bachelor of Music Degree"im Studienfach Jazz an der Universität von Natal in Durban erwarb. Von da an begann er ganztags Musik in Soweto und Johannesburg zu unterrichten, bevor er sich für eine Karriere als Musiker (Studio / Tournee) entschloss.

Innerhalb kürzester Zeit wurde Concord ein höchst begehrter Bassgitarrist, der u.a. mit Größen wie Abdullah Ibrahim, Zim Ngqawana, Hugh Masekela und Ray Phiri zu-sammenarbeitete.
Während dieser Zeit entwickelte Concord seine ausgeprägten Führungsfähigkeiten als Musikdirektor und Aufnahmeproduzent. Seine Arbeit als Pro-duzent umfasst Aufnahmen von ?Joyous Celebration I"und Wendy Msekulu - ?Picking up the pieces"und Tsunami - ?From Clay".

Concord Nkabinde's Wirkungskreis endete nicht an den Grenzen von Südafrika. Er
tourte international mit Johnny Clegg, Zim Ngqawana, Darius Brubeck, Deepak Ram
Ray Phiri, Gito Baloi, um nur einige zu nennen. Concords musikalische Kreativität
machten sich auch internationale Künstler zunutze, die in Südafrika auf Tour waren:

Toro (Puerto Rico), und andere.

Concord besitzt eine enorme Leidenschaft für Projekte, kulturüberschreitender Zu-sammenarbeit. Diese Mission, virtuelle Mauern einzureißen, die die Menschen in der
Welt trennen sollen, ist ein Ziel, das er mit beiden Händen und seinem Herzen ergriff.

Nachdem er so viele Erfahrungen durch die Zusammenarbeit mit Musikern aus den
Bereichen Jazz bis Rock, Gospel bis zu traditionellen afrikanischen Stilen gemacht
hat, fand Concord nun seinen eigenen Sound und Richtung. Eine Reise, die er gerne
mit Ihnen teilen möchte.
