Shahad AMEEN (شهد أمين) is a film director and screenwriter.


Shahad Ameen is an award-winning writer and director from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Her short films include "Leila's Window" (2011), which won best film at Saudi Film Festival, and "Eye & Mermaid" (2013), which screened at major festivals including Toronto and Stockholm, and went on to win awards for cinematography and fiction. Her debut feature "Scales" premiered at Venice and won the Verona Film Club Award. The film was Saudi Arabia's official submission to the 2021 Academy Awards.
Her feature "Hijra" (2025) premiered at Venice and was Saudi Arabia's official submission to the 2026 Academy Awards.
