Vanessa Wanger collaborated as a producer with award-winning Chinese director Wang Quanan on Jingzhe, a film that debuted at the Berlin Film Festival's Panorama in 2004. She then joined Antidote Films in New York as head of development, and later collaborated with Original Media when it produced the Oscar-nominated films, The Squid and the Whale and Half Nelson. In 2006, she produced Film Stills of the Mind, a photography series about contemporary Chinese artists. In 2007, she produced a short film in China, Tombée de nuit sur Shanghai, by the Cesar-nominated, avant-garde filmmaker Chantal Akerman. In February 2009, Wanger will begin production on the narrative feature film directorial debut of Zeina Durra, The Imperialists are Still Alive!
