The National Art Gallery of The Bahamas is pleased to be opening the long overdue tribute to the Minnis Family, Creation's Grace, a stunning retrospective that will feature work by Bahamian master artist and patriarch Eddie Minnis, whose early works and cartoons will also be exhibited. Also on display will be works by both daughters Nicole Minnis-Ferguson and Roshanne Minnis-Eyma, who followed in their father's footsteps both in their artwork and in their faith, and his son-in-law, Ritchie Eyma, an accomplished artist in his own right, married to Roshanne. This will be the first exhibit of this scope for the family, showcasing over 100 paintings from their earliest works to the present.
Curated by Amanda Coulson, Creation's Grace will be an extraordinary archive of works long-unseen, as many will be loaned from private collections, and will explore how many of the paintings, while functioning as a paean to the beauty of The Bahamas, also point toward social and environmental issues our country is facing. Exhibition will be on display from July 30th to November 30th, 2014.
