THIAROYE

Genre : Album
Release date : Sunday 01 march 1998
Principal country concerned : Column : Music

In Thiaroye, the shadows of dusk float above the rattling of percussion and the soft melody of the women who sing at family gatherings. El Hadj has the double training of the tradition and the street.

He accompanies himself on guitar and harmonica. His voice will take bluesy tones to depict the slaughtered hope of street vendors ("Siggi") or sing an insistent lament to warn young girls who use whitening creams ("Dund uk jën")…

This CD is his first international production. With his accomplices Alain Renaud (acoustic, electric and bass guitars) and Sidney Thiam (djembe, bells, shekere, congas), El Hadj N'Diaye presents the best of his repertoire.
