New Glyn Jones Private Secondary School are the new kings having triumphed in the national school arts competition held in Lilongwe recently.

According to the judges, the school's smart presentation and display of coordination in their performance outsmarted their fellow competitors with a considerable margin of points.

"We looked at the script's relevance to the topic, communication in terms of pronunciations, creativity in coordination and costumes with regard to their setting," said one of the judges.

New Glyn Jones play director, Madalitso Magalasi, said his group interacted well on stage which helped them take the lead over the others.

"We did put up a very good fight on stage and we are glad to have made it top," he said.

Arts House Africa Director, Elson Kambalu, commended the efforts the students put up to organise and come up with the plays that centred on the concerted efforts to end child trafficking and drug abuse.

He also said his organisation will continue sponsoring such competitions to enhance the utilisation of artistic skills that students and other school-leavers have.

"Our main aim is to explore the hidden talents in students and school-leavers so that they make the best use of the skills and even make a living out of it instead of waiting to be employed," said Kambalu.

New Glyn Jones' play told of a story of how child traffickers and drug users changed the behaviour of the youth leaving the audience amazed.

Incorporation of an organised community to track and sentence the convicts sent a quivering shock message to aspiring offenders of pending tough punishments.

As winners, the school received K150,000 from Arts House Africa.
