Created so that we could continue to make films on our own terms; Stayblack Productions is Jonas Carpignano, Paolo Carpignano and Jon Coplon.

STAYBLACK Productions is the Rome and Calabria-based company of Director Jonas Carpignano and Producers Jon Coplon and Paolo Carpignano.
STAYBLACK premiered Carpignano's second feature film, "A Ciambra", in Cannes at the Directors Fortnight where it received the Europa Cinemas Label Award for Best European Film. Executive Produced by Martin Scorcese and RT Features the film will be distributed by IFC Films in the USA, Haut et Court in France and Academy Two in Italy. The film is Italy's selection for Best Foreign Language Film for the 2018 Academy Awards.
Previously, the STAYBLACK team made Mediterranea which after premiering in Critics' Week at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, garnered both a Gotham Award for Breakthrough Director and National Board of Review's, Best Directorial Debut for Carpignano. Carpignano's short film version of "A Ciambra", received the Discovery Award at Critics' Week at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival, and a Special Mention Nastro D'Argento, and "A Chjána", a short film from 2011 which premiered at the Venice Film Festival and won the Controcampo Award for Best Short Film.
STAYBLACK is entering several international co-productions with Una Gunjak's feature debut Alfa, Z Behl's Gepetto, Manuella Martelli's 1976, as well as Carpignano's upcoming, A Chiara.
The company's goal is to support new voices in cinema and to promote Italian co-productions both in Italy and abroad.
