Joe Mek is a Papua New Guinean artist - a painter from Nombuna Village in Simbu Province. Joe is a larger than life character who started to paint his stories in 1997. Joe learnt his craft primarily from other members of his wantok now recognised as the Simbu Painters.
He has consistently improved in his execution and materials during several years of participating in the Luk Save Art Show. His work regularly features the change in his surrounding culture.
