Julie comes from Malaita Province in the Solomon Islands. She is one of the very few female Visual artists from the country that have achieved significant progress in their arts careers. Most of her work is based on culture and traditional designs.

She went to school in New Zealand, which was where she developed her interest in art. From then she became a practising artist and even hosted her own exhibitions both locally and internationally. She even represented Solomon Islands in a number of international festivals and exhibitions overseas.
