Fijian native of the island of Kadavu, Luisa is a multi-disciplinary artist, an activist and a writer. Her art practice is concerned with the queer discourse, Pacific history, and the possibilities of alternative narratives. She co-curated Fiji's first all woman contemporary art exhibition, VASU: Pacific Women of Power and co-edited its accompanying publication in 2008. She worked in human rights in Fiji and the Pacific before moving to Aotearoa/New Zealand in 2009. She has a BA in Journalism and Pacific History & Politics from the University of the South Pacific and in 2014 she completed her Bachelor of Creative Arts (Visual Arts) at the Faculty of Creative Arts at Manukau Institute of Technology. Her artwork can be found in private collections in Aotearoa, and at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa.
