Salah Ammar was born in Sudan in 1963 and now lives and practices in Kenya. He has been based at the GoDown Arts Centre where he has a studio for several years now. His work is typical of the Sudanese style incorporating Arabic calligraphy and cultural and spiritual symbols. He uses a mixed media of watercolor and ink. His work has been shown in various exhibitions and most recently at the One Off Gallery here in Nairobi where he had a solo exhibition in February.
