Late 1970s. At the height of his career, Miles Davis, the precursor of modern jazz, disappeared from the limelight for five years. Alone and secluded, he suffered chronic hip pain, his talent was hampered by drugs and painkillers, and the ghosts of the past soon came to haunt him. When Dave Braden, a particularly cunning music journalist, succeeds in forcing his way into the artist's home, a complicity develops between the two men: they will attempt together to recover a stolen recording of the musician's latest compositions.
