Despite the global health crisis, the 26th International Press Ceremony was still able to take place, in the form of a programme broadcast free-to-air and exclusively on Canal+, on Tuesday 19 January 2021 at 8 pm.

The programme was presented by Laurie Cholewa and Laurent Weil as well as thirteen correspondents from the Académie des Lumières, who presented Les Lumières, trophies created by the Monnaie de Paris.

The actors Léa Drucker and Alex Lutz intervened to recall the importance of the international press in the defence of French cinema.

Les choses qu'on dit, les choses qu'on fait from Emmanuel Mouret won the Lumière for the best film; that of the direction was awarded to Maïwenn for ADN and that of the screenplay to Stéphane Demoustier for La Fille au bracelet.

Three films make a double : Two from Filippo Meneghetti with a Lumière for actresses Martine Chevallier and Barbara Sukowa and the Lumière of the first film; Aurel wins the Light of the animated film for Josep and Sílvia Pérez Cruz the one of the music ; Summer 85 of François Ozon wins the Lumière of the masculine revelation for Félix Lefebvre and Benjamin Voisin as well as that of the image for Hichame Alaouié.

The Lumière of the best actor goes to Sami Bouajila for Un fils from Mehdi M. Barsaoui, that of the female revelation is attributed to Noée Abita for her interpretation in Slalom from Charlène Favier and that of the documentary to David Dufresne for Un pays qui se tenir sage.

Finally, the film by Kaouther Ben Hania, The Man Who Sold His Skin, wins the Lumière of International Co-production.

The Académie des Lumières of the international press is happy to have maintained in its selection two films, whose releases were planned for the end of 2020, but postponed due to the closure of the theatres, and to see them finally in the charts : Slalom and The Man Who Sold His Skin. We hope that these awards will help them when they are released.

The 26th Lumières Ceremony is dedicated to the Spanish journalist José María Riba (1951-2020), a historical member of the Academy, who gave him a second wind as General Delegate (2016-2019). A passionate film passer, a great discoverer of talent, loved and recognised by the profession, José María Riba spread the fame of Spanish and Latin American cinema in France and French cinema internationally throughout his life, with modesty and humour.
