Moussa Alex Sawadogo was appointed on 14 October 2020, in the Council of Ministers of the Government of Burkina Faso, General Delegate of the Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO).
He replaces Ardiouma Soma, who has retired, and Timibé Gervais Hien, who had been acting since last July 27.
The appointment of Alex Moussa Sawadogo is well received by the film industry: he has proved his worth and is well integrated into the African cinema circuit. He is also fluent in English and German.
Born in 1974 in Grand-Bassam, Côte d'Ivoire, married with two children, Alex Moussa Sawadogo holds a Master of Art in Cultural Management and Media, obtained at the University of Theatre and Music in Hamburg, Germany, and a Master's degree in Art History and Archaeology, Joseph Ki-Zerbo University.
He was the coordinator of Ouaga Film Lab. He was a member of the commission of the Fonds d'Aides au Cinéma du Monde (ACM), from 2017 to 2019, in charge of cultural affairs and communication at the Embassy of Burkina Faso in Berlin, Germany (2005-2006), artistic director of AFRIKAMERA - African Film Festival in Berlin and of the Biennale of Contemporary African Dance in Berlin, as well as Consultant of the Open Doors programme for Africa at the Locarno International Film Festival and of the programme for Africa at the Hamburg Film Fest.
