Two Zimbabwean stand-up comedians, Ngobizita Ncube and Michael K, are in a play. Titled "Sound Gaze" the play has South African actors.

Ncube, who is popularly known as Q in the comedy circles, said it was his first time to star in a play. He plays the role of The Captain, The Barker as well as Andries, a friend to Woyzeck.

"It was so challenging I tell you because that was my first time," he said. He said the two weeks he spent in South Africa for the play were enough to teach him a lotabout the industry.

"I have so much respect for theatre and my participation in that play has actually given me the courage to work in other plays," he said.

He said the story is about Woyzeck, a soldier who becomes mad and his friends and his Captain try to take his girlfriend taking advantage of his madness.

"The play is interesting and makes us proud as Zimbabwean comedians to be part of it," he said.

They showed the play in South Africa and Swaziland and the response was overwhelming.

"We played in South Africa and at House of Fire in Swaziland. I tell you it was amazing," he said.

They have lined up a number of shows to show the play here in Zimbabwe.

"Other actors from South Africa are expected to be in the country next week to for shows here in Zimbabwe," he said.

They show the play at the Book Cafe, Zimbabwe Germany Society and Mbira Centre.
