The Primus Guma Guma Superstar season five, (PGGSS5) competition kicks off with the pre-selections tonight at Gikondo Expo Grounds; The New Times talked to some artistes to share their views about the annual music competition.

Paccy from TNP: What I can say right now, is that our fans have already done a wonderful job to support us not only in PGGSS, but also in our daily music career. I would like to thank them and kindly ask them to keep up their support. We will perform on Saturday and I hope to see many of our fans there.

Jody: It seems too soon to say anything, because I am yet to make it among the 10 contestants who will be eligible to compete in PGGSS 5. But what I can say is that I am giving it my best, particularly my performance this evening. And I hope to deliver the best of me. I can't forget to thank my fans for the support they give me.

Young Grace: Judges have the last say, but my fans should still come and experience what I have in store for them. I am doing so well in terms of preparations. I do rehearsals every day. Currently, I am focusing on my vocals, as well as on how I will appear during my performances. I request all my fans to support me and I make it to the finals.

Bruce Melody: I am so much prepared for tonight. My voice is very strong. I have got the faith in myself to appear among the top 10. I do not doubt that because I know I have prepared enough. All I can tell my fans, is that they should be there to support me and see for themselves too, because we have really come along way.

Senderi International Hit: For now, I don't have much to tell my fans, but I promise to deliver the best performance tonight. I believe that we shall win the competition this time.

Ciney: Among the female contestants, I am supporting Young Grace. I think she really worked so hard to get where she is now. I remember when the first selections were being conducted. She was anxious because it was very competitive to be among 15 semi-finalists. But that made her work hard. I believe that Young Grace is a good fit for this year's PGGSS.

Diplomate: I'm supporting Bull Dog because he is a talented singer and he deserves to be in the competition. His music conveys positive messages, unlike some of the other musicians who just sing for the sake of making money. I wish him the best in tonight's competition.

Riderman: My favourite musician in this competition is Queen Cha. She is talented and her music is constructive because she sings about real life issues. I wish her all the best tonight.
