Are you a fashion designer? Do you have a passion for fashion designs? Perhaps you want to know of the latest designs. If yes, then Mimosa Court Hotel in Mzuzu is the place to be on Sunday.
Fashion designers in the city, under Towera and Kwanza Creations, have organised a fashion exhibition to celebrate the International Women's Day, which falls on the day dubbed Fashion Tea.
Mkandawire: Men with a sense of fashion are welcome to the event
"The Fashion Tea will be a great networking opportunity for the women of Mzuzu and for local SME's to market their products or services" said Wezi Mzumara, Founder, Kwanza PR.
While Towera Mkandawire, owner of Towera Fashions said they have lined up a number of activities, including a fashion show to showcase their products.
"Being a part of the Fashion Tea is a great opportunity as a small business owner it's not often that you get the opportunity to market your designs at such occasions" Mkandawire said.
She said the fashion industry in Mzuzu is growing at a fast rate such that more people are seeking for local attires.
"For instance, I receive a minimum of five customers on a daily basis and yet I do not have an assistant. This is a big number for me considering that I am operating from home since I am new in the industry," said the Chibanja resident.
Mkandawire holds a certificate in textile and designing from Phwezi Women's Training Centre in Rumphi where she studied from 2011 to 2014.
Thereafter, she set up her own business with plans of expanding it into a national entity.
Some of her products include dresses for bridal parties, casual wear, kitchen or toilet suits, ladies attire and men's shirts.
