On Saturday, April 11th DCMA proudly hosted 3 members of the Swiss Parliament and 2 journalists from Switzerland who were visiting Tanzania.
The purpose of this visit to DCMA was to visit one of the 'Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC)' sponsored organizations, and see (and hear) first-hand how Swiss money is being spent for the development of music-skills and employment-options in Tanzania.
The guests arrived at 4 pm and were welcomed by Ms. Fatma Kiluwa, the Academy Director and Professor Mitchel Strumpf, the Academic Director who also served as Master of Ceremonies for a concert of traditional Taarab music that was performed for the visitors. The DCMA Taarab Ensemble, led by Head Teacher Mohamed Othman, performed with a high level of musical excellence that was very much appreciated and enjoyed by all those who attended.
His Excellency, the Swiss Ambassador, Ambassador Olivier Chave who frequently visits DCMA, brought the group to DCMA this afternoon and later, in an email, expressed "...a huge THANK YOU, to the performing team; the concert was fantastic, and left my MPs with a strong and durable impression - not to say emotion!"
