One of Malawi's private radio stations Star FM has lined up a Family Poetry Festival dubbed 'Chiphwando cha Ndatakatulo' at Summit Cultural Center in Lilongwe on November 30.

With Bicco International and Super Sapuwa as main sponsors, the festival, according to Star FM's Marketing Manager Brian Chamgomo is aimed at giving an early Christmas to the radio's listeners.

The country's celebrated vernacular poets Slyvester Kalizang'oma, Nyamalikiti Nthiwatiwa and Felix Njonjonjo will have to face the heat by upcoming poets such as Madalitso Nyambo, Hudson Chamasowa, Humble C, Joseph Madzedze and Michael Benjala among others.

Apart from poetry, there will also be live music performance by acoustic stars Apao Band from Chilinde and stand up comedy by A Chair and Mr Malawi.

"We decided to come up with this show to welcome capital city fans into a festive month of December.

"As you also might recall that Star FM head office is now based in Lilongwe, we would also want our listeners to have entertainment through poetry because its only Blantyre who gets a big
share in poetry shows," said Chamgomo adding that there are a lot of shows lined up in December.

The show which will start at 1pm, will see fans parting ways with K1500 at the door while K1000 with advance payment.

Tickets are being sold Summit Cultural Center, Global Star shops, Vigen Massage Center in Upper House Building and Summer Park Internet Cafe.

Other sponsors at the show are Galani MW 1 and X Media.
