In 1965, Hugh Dunphy  opened a gallery,  named after the great hero of Latin American Independence, Simon Bolivar.

The Jamaican artists  were enthusiastic about this new venture and over the last forty years most of  the best-known artists have exhibited at Bolivar Gallery.

So many years of showing Jamaican and International artists have given the gallery a wealth of knowledge and experience, and now that a New Phase is beginning this expertise can be shared with old friends and our new public. For three out of the five first decades of Jamaican Art, Bolivar has been the name that has stood out and been appreciated for its constant search for beautiful works of art. This search will continue.
