The Stories Of Our Lives project is a series of five vignettes based on true stories exploring life in Kenya's LGBT community. The film was banned by the country's government on the grounds that it "promotes homosexuality" which is punishable by law, though rarely prosecuted. Homosexuality has been at the center of a contentious debate in the east African nation in recent months.
Stories of Our Lives is both a labour of love and a bold act of militancy, defying the enforced silence of intolerance with tales rooted in the soil of lived experience. The film reflects on the hopes, struggles and stigmas faced by members of the Kenyan LGBT community.
