NOTE BY THE PROGRAMMER
Die neunjährige Jo liebt Actionfilme und träumt davon, selbst eine Superheldin zu sein. Ihr grösster Wunsch wäre es, einen Film zu drehen, in dem sie selbst die Hauptrolle spielt. In ihrer Fantasie vergisst das Mädchen völlig, dass es unheilbar krank ist. Irgendwann kann Jos Schwester nicht mehr mit ansehen, wie das lebensfrohe Kind die kostbare Zeit, die ihm noch bleibt, einfach im Bett verbringt. Sie ermutigt Jo, an ihre magischen Kräfte zu glauben, und in der Folge animiert sie das ganze Dorf, Jos Traum wahr werden zu lassen. Alle beteiligen sich daran. Die berührende Geschichte des jungen kenianischen Filmemachers Likarion Wainaina ist im Rahmen eines Projekts entstanden, das das deutsch-kenianischen Produktionskollektiv One Fine Day Films von Regisseur Tom Tykwer aufgebaut hat. Der Filmemacher erzählt von der Kraft der Fantasie und von einem ungewöhnlichen Weg des Abschiednehmens. Sein Film strahlt aus in die ganze Welt und erfreut.
