Akwete Sande was born on May 231962 at Edward Kwisongole. T/A C hikowi in Zomba District. Fourth in a family of six children. he went to Masongola Secondary  Lilongwe and Domasi Teachers" Colleges before going into journalism. He later did Advanced Levels [Cambridge] in History Economics and Law before pursuing further professions in Journalism and Literature in the USA and Zimbabwe respectively. He has worked in several media organisations including the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), The Monitor, The Minor and Malawi Today newspapers. Akwete has also worked in diplomatic service in Namibia and Zimbabwe. His poetry and short stories have appeared in local anthologies. He is currently working on an anthology of poetry and an auto graphical book on his journalistic career: In Search of'a Hero to be published soon is a book on his personal account of events during the transition period from 1992 to the first party elections in 1994.
