Johanna Beasley is currently working as the Visual Arts Coordinator at the Oceania Centre for Arts Culture& Pacific Studies at the University of the South Pacifc in Suva, Fiji.
Originally from Australia, she started her career as a textile designer. She completed a diploma in Textile Design and a degree in teaching. She extented her art experience with completing a degree in Fine Arts. After visiting Fiji for a five week holiday she returned and worked as a volunteer for the Fiji Council for Disabled People.
She became the head of Visual Arts at the International School in Nadi. She exhibited many times and her sculpure for the Fiji Arts Council competition was highly recommended. Just recently she was involved in running the Eco Arts workshop on Beqa Island. In her current work she focuses on raising awareness about climate change issues, using recyled and found objects, mainly from the sea, in her sculptures. Her research work is based on her experiences on her trips to Kadavu and Beqa.
She is living in Fiji for 14 years now and holds a dual passport.
