Regina Knapp

Regina Knapp is an anthropologist and filmmaker with extensive personal and fieldwork experience in Papua New Guinea. She was born in the country and intensified her knowledge about local cultures in various anthropological research projects, mainly in the Eastern Highlands Province.

Regina Knapp studied anthropology, journalism  and documentary film at the Freie Universität Berlin. In 2001 she graduated with her MA-thesis on the social role of women in the Highlands of Papua New Guinea. Her research  further resulted in the compilation of an award winning documentary film on a female candidate's struggle in the 1997 National Elections ('Big Mama Daisy').

As an independent filmmaker, she is involved in the production and editing of ethnographic films.
