Ritha Paulsen was born in Karagwe District, Kagera Region in Tanzania and was educated in Uganda and Harare, Zimbabwe. She is the owner and founder of Benchmark Productions, which is the first production company to use digital technology in media production.
Rita is also the one of the first people in Tanzania to introduce a modeling company and take modeling in commercials to a new height in terms of payment and quality. Her company Benchmark remains one of the very few companies with high standards of work.
In 2007, she started a project – Bongo Star Search (BSS), which a star search reality show which promotes music career of young Tanzanians by teaching them the skills they need to succeed as musicians. Through BSS she has launched the career of many young artists as well as played a great role in uplifting the music industry.
