Rwandan artist, writer, lawyer and film critic.

Rutamu Fabiola UWERA (Rutamu Fabiola Uwera) is an artist, writer, lawyer and film critic.
She was selected as a Film Critic as part of the vocational training for 2021 FESPACO Workshop by "Africiné Magazine" edited by the African Federation of Film Critics (AFFC / FACC), and NO'O CULTURES training programme. She attended 2021 FESPACO and wrote papers for "Africiné Magazine" at Ouaga Festival.

Fabiola is an apprentice writer, a lawyer by profession and an artist at heart based in Kigali. A lover of art in all its forms, she experiments and explores different ways to express her ideas and imaginations. Art has always been part of her life ever since she was young, she would write a piece of poem for her friends or draw them a piece of cake when she could not afford to buy a real one. Ever since she got involved in the organizing committee for the 8th edition of East Africa Art Biennale, Fabiola picked an interest in the curatorial practice and she is currently pursuing her journey to becoming an art curator. She is an emerging self taught artist whose current work explores the liberation of women, social norms and the gender-based censorship through semi-abstract patterns and forms.
