Saidi Chilamboni was born in Mindu, Tanzania to his Makua mother and Makonde father. His education led him to become a tailor. But that did not become his life destiny and he decides for painting. In 1973 he leaves to Dar Es Salaam. There he chooses painting like E.S. Tingatinga. By that time Tingatinga does not live anymore. Saidi Chilamboni has learnt to paint from Amonde and Tedo. Further on he paints alone. Saidi's son, Saidi Omary Chilamboni was born in 1979; he started to paint in 1989 after having done his apprenticeship with his father Saidi.
