Multi-skilled artist, Wilfried de Paul, has associated plastic arts and music as an author-composer for several years. Alike his words, his paintings articulate his most intimate feelings, creating a heterogeneous narrative that expresses the human complexity.

Wilfried sets colours, makes washings spurt, turns the painting inside out, scratches, wipes, lets the paint flow until his eyes open to the work and the subject reveals itself to him. His work of shade and light structures volumes and draws attention.

Strange creatures and characters emerge in the painting, fade then partly reappear, forming polymorphic beings that arose from the artist's feelings.

The artist also develops a graphic universe inspired by traditional shapes painted on houses of Gourounsi's ethnic group (Village of Tiébélé). Walls, ceilings, furniture, street shop, restaurants are supports on which the artist expresses himself. He mixes his graphics design with his surrounding nature to transform space. His favourite colours: ground colours.

«To paint means to sett off on an adventure, to begin a journey without knowing where our first step will lead us, where each hour spent corresponds with one landscape. The painting is a memory of this journey, a writing of feelings experienced while its creation.»
