Born Andrew Hastings Chodola in Blantyre in 1971, Nyangu completed his secondary education at Blantyre Secondary School in the early 90s. Soon after leaving school, Nyangu worked as a sign writer for tobacco processing companies in Lilongwe until 1997, when he finally left to become a full time freelance artist.



Nyangu started drawing at an early age, and through his persistent personal studies in art, he has become a well recognised and respected artist in the region. Nyangus' pencil drawings and oil paintings are well sought after and his grace walls around the globe. 



 



In 2008 Nyangu received two Awards of excellence.  The first for Overall Best Artist and also for Best Artworks from Art House Africa, Lilongwe. February 2014 Nyangu received his third award as Best Visual Artist from Lite of Youth Creative Organisation.  Nyangu has participated in over fifty exhibitions over the past fifteen years in Malawi, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America.  



Nyangu's work has been on display in all of the art galleries in Malawi, and he is currently holding a major solo exhibition at Molten Blue Gallery and Boutique in Lilongwe where he has 36 works of art on display.
