As one of the Caribbean's premiere Abstract Expressionists, it is only fitting that it's spirit and vitality are so well represented in Aziza's vivid, powerful paintings. However, her name (which means "Star" in a dialect of the Ivory Coast) reflects the fact that she has lived and traveled extensively throughout the Middle and Far East, as well as the Western Hemisphere. As a result, paintings that may appear deceptively simple in fact mirror complex visual impressions collected in more than 50 countries around the globe. Each work reflects her individuality, an international sensibility and an extraordinary palette. Variously styled as an "impressionist", a "colorist", an "expressionist" and a "mystic", Aziza has studied art in Seoul, South Korea, and Kabul, Afghanistan, as well as the United States. In the U.S. She studied privately in Washington DC, and at the San Francisco Institute of Art, the University of California in Berkeley, and at Laney College in Oakland.
