Florian Heinzen-Ziob studied film directing and media art at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne. His films have been featured at the Hot Docs Film Festival in Toronto, International Film Festival Rotterdam and Sheffield DocFest, among others. He lives and works in Cologne.

Born 1984 in Düsseldorf, Germany. Florian Heinzen-Ziob is a freelance director and producer and co-founder of Fontäne Film production. He studied media arts and film directing at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne. As an author, director and producer he realized the three Cinema documentaries ORIGINAL COPY, GERMAN CLASS and DANCING PINA. His films have been shown at over a hundred film festivals worldwide, including Rotterdam Film Festival, Hot Docs Toronto, Sheffield DocFest, Vancouver International Film Festival and DOK.fest Munich, have received several awards and celebrated successful theatrical releases. He lives and works in Cologne, Germany.

FLORIAN HEINZEN-ZIOB, geboren 1984, wuchs in Düsseldorf auf. Nach dem Abitur arbeitete er als Regieassistent am Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, als Editor und Animator in Hamburg und studierte Filmregie und Medienkunst und an der Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln. Dort realisierte eine Reihe von Spiel-, Animations- und Dokumentarfilmen, die auf internationalen Festivals gezeigt und im deutschen TV ausgestrahlt wurden. 2013 drehte er in Mumbai, Indien, seinen ersten abendfüllenden Dokumentarfilm ORIGINAL COPY, der seine Weltpremiere auf dem Hot Docs Film Festival in Toronto feierte, auf Festivals weltweit lief und in Deutschland in den Kinos zu sehen war. 2016-2018 begleitete Florian Heinzen-Ziob für seinen Kino-Dokumentarfilm KLASSE DEUTSCH eine Vorbereitungsklasse für Kinder die neu nach Deutschland gekommen sind in Köln. DANCING PINA, über das Erbe des Choreographin Pina Bausch, ist sein dritter Kino-Dokumentarfilm, der unter anderem auf dem Sheffield Doc/Fest und dem Vancouver International Filmfestival zu sehen war und einen sehr erfolgreichen Kinostart in Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz feierte. Florian Heinzen-Ziob lebt und arbeitet in Köln.
