Ishawna is the new female singer/songwriter rising on Jamaica's local dancehall scene set to dazzle the world with her amazing talent, good looks and charming personality. Christened Ishawna Natalia Smith, she was born in the heart of Kingston Jamaica but migrated to the states at an early age. She is from a strong musical background being the daughter of outstanding singer Don Angelo, who made a name for his self in the rub-a-dub era singing on King Jammies sound in the 80's and 90's. She is also the niece of the "chosen one" singer Paul Elliot.

As a youngster she idolized singers such as the late Garnett Silk, Anita Baker, Celine Dion, Toni Braxton, Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. At an early age Ishawna began performing at school and community functions as well as singing at weddings and funerals. You name it and Ishawna was there to sing it. " I was always singing, it was inevitable that I would take it up as a career," she disclosed. At age 15 she was introduced to the New York based singer/producer Ed Robinson by Junior Demus, a family friend. Through Robinson she got a chance to record her first professional demo, a compilation of four songs, in which she penned herself. In her teens she joined an R&B group called Honey Do in New York, which earned her some valid experience performing in front of large audiences.

After travelling back and forth to Jamaica and the US, she decided to settle in Jamaica in 2005. That year she met popular selector/producer Foota Hype who sighting her remarkable talent, decided to guide her musically. "Foota believes in my talent and has opened many doors for me." Ishawna pointed out. Since being based in Jamaica she has been working vigorously in the studios. Her most popular single is " For You", which features Demarco. The song has been getting a good response both locally and internationally. As well as "Ladies Night", "Put your hands up" and "I want you". Ishawna has worked on several tracks with Shane Brown of Juke Boxx Productions, TJ Records, Foota Hype Music, Chimney Records, Keep Left Records, Yardvybes Entertainment and Jam2 Records.

She has collaborated with Grammy Award winner Wyclef Jean as well as Peetah Morgan from outstanding reggae group Morgan Heritage, just to name a few. Ishawna is currently working on some exclusive tracks for her debut album to be released next year. In the meantime, get use to this remarkably talented young woman, as she is about to take Jamaica and the rest of the world by storm.
