Jeffry Feeger is a contemporary visual and performance artist from Papua New Guinea. Jeffry was born in 1983 in Port Moresby, PNG. His education was at the Port Moresby International School and the University of Papua New Guinea, majoring in Visual Art in 2002.
Jeffry describes his work as 'magic realism'. Referenced from a genre of literature, magic realism' describes a meeting place for the world of spirits and the real world. Through the painting process, Jeffry feels that his ancestors' spirits are with him and he can connect with them in a very intimate and intense process.
Jeffry uses his bare hands and the rhythm of music to assist in making this connection. He also collaborates with live musicians to heighten the experience.
