Suzannah MIRGHANI (Suzannah Mirghani) is a writer, researcher, and independent filmmaker, highlighting stories from the Arab world. Being of multicultural Sudanese and Russian backgrounds, she is interested in stories that examine the complexity of identity.
Suzannah is a media studies and museum studies graduate.
Suzannah is the writer, director, and producer of AL-SIT (2020), which won 16 international awards, including two Academy Award qualifying prizes: Best of Fest at LA Shorts (2021) and the Grand Prix at Tampere Film Festival (2021). Other awards include the Canal+ Award at Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival (2021); Best Short Film at Zanzibar International Film Festival (2021); and the Jury Award at Busan International Short Film Festival (2021). Her other shorts include VIRTUAL VOICE (2021), which premiered at Tribeca Film Festival, CARAVAN (2016), and HIND'S DREAM (2014).
