Thomas Bauer, filmmaker and teacher, born in 1968, is a graduate of ENSA-Paris-Cergy. Since 1998, he has directed three films in the United States, including René O.
He regularly lectures at various Fine Arts schools in France: Grenoble, Valence, Cergy Pontoise, Toulouse as well as at the Arts Décoratifs in Paris and the École du Paysage in Versailles.
Since 2008, he has directed under the generic title Capitaine for example, a film (produced by Les films d'Ici), a radio show (Atelier de création radiophonique, France Culture) and an architecture with Laurent Charpin and Raphaëlle Perron. Alongside these film productions, he generally collaborates on the sound or editing of projects by various artists such as Marcelline Delbecq, Valérie Jouve, François Nouguiès, François Curlet or Alejandra Riera, all of whom are involved in the making of a different kind of cinema.
Since 2012, he has been co-directing with Judith Abensour, as part of the "Cinema" research team, the "faux raccord" collection at Le Gac Press and then at Post-Editions. In 2013, they produced and directed Parades, a film built between France, Israel and Palestine. Since 2015, they have been developing a teaching and production network that links several teams from different art schools and artist institutions.
