All Africa Music Awards have opened entries for the 2015 edition whose ceremony will be held in Lagos, Nigeria in November. The entries are open till July 2015.

In a statement, President/Executive Producer of AFRIMA Mike Dada said the entries are open to artistes of African origin as well as entertainment reporters.

"Music professionals of African origin including artistes, songwriters, video directors, music/entertainment journalists and music producers resident on the continent or abroad are eligible to enter in any of the 33 award categories," he said.

He added that the works to be submitted must have been produced in the year under review from May 31, 2014 to July 20, 2015.

Meanwhile, Dada added that the red carpet event is expected to be even more high class this year.

"This year's event is going to be bigger and better, it is going to be a night of glamour, glitz and grandeur for Africa in its crowning glory through a world-class live production event broadcast to over 80 countries around the world," he said. He added that they are expecting about 5000 guests.

"We are expecting a big number this year and among the guests will be African artistes and celebrities, International artistes and nominees, African Union Chairperson, African Head of states, Ministers of Trade/investment and Tourism in Africa, Members of the Diplomatic corps, local and international media," he said.

Last year's edition saw Zimbabwean singer Cindy Munyavi winning the Best Female musician Southern Africa award while compatriot Jah Prayzah was nominated twice in the awards for Best Male Artiste Southern Africa and for Best Collaboration. Sabastian Magacha was also among the nominees.

Cindy beat Africa's most popular female artists like Zahara, Mampi and Lira who command huge following across the globe.

AFRIMA is a continental music awards project that is conceptualised to reward music talents of Africa and also stimulate conversations on how the African music industry can contribute to the economies of African countries and create jobs towards reducing poverty on the continent.
