The "Regional Fund for the Promotion of Cooperation and Cultural Exchanges in West Africa" was established by the Commission of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) and the Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS), with the financial support of the European Union. Its objective is to contribute to the expansion of cultural exchanges between the 16 countries of the sub-region: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Republic of Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo.
As part of this mission, the Fund has decided to produce a directory of organizations that contribute to the development of exchanges and to the movement of work, artists and cultural services throughout the region. All the types of organisations (public, private, or associative) are concerned, as far as they meet 3 requirements: to have all or most of their activities related to arts and culture in West Africa; to contribute, with a proportion of their actvities at least, to the integrating process and the strengthening of exchanges and networks on the regional level; and to have some experience (minimum 3 years for the organization or one of its managers). The registration in this directory is free. It will be published in 2000 copies which will be distributed in all the countries of the region. It will also be available for consultation online in the form of a database.
Africa Label Group (ALG), was selected to develop this directory, is currently investigating to the organizations that meet these requirements. The survey is available on the website http://www.africalabel.com or can be asked to ALG. The answers must be sent to ALG by e-mail or fax. The deadline is 30/09/09. Answers received after this date won't be taken into account.
If you wish to be personally informed of the publication of the directory and of the way to obtain it, please let us know by mail.
