CAMÉRA LIBRE : Call for projects 2023 (CNC)

Genre : Calls for papers
Principal country concerned : Column : Cinema/tv

In 2023, the CNC, in partnership with the Cité internationale des arts and L'usage du monde au 21e siècle, is launching the second edition of the "Caméra libre" residency programme.

This support scheme welcomes in residence in France foreign filmmakers who have already made at least one feature-length film selected at a leading international festival, and who are developing an international feature-length film project, but are prevented from its writing, financing and/or production due to violence, censorship, persecution or political threats they face in their country.

The directors will be welcomed in residency at the Cité internationale des arts for six months. They will receive tailored support from the Cité internationale des arts, L'usage du monde au 21e siècle and the CNC.

Projects will be reviewed based on the opinion of a seven-member commission. These members are selected among French or foreign film professionals or among individuals qualified in defending freedom of expression.

All the information you need to know about the conditions of eligibility and how to put together an application can be found in the downloadable description of the residence.

In 2023, the call for applications is open until 15 September 2023. The project selection committee will meet in December 2023. The selected directors and directors may start their residency from 2 February 2024, for six months.
