Rising comedian Victor "Doc Vikela" Mpofu was the toast of the night at this year's edition of the Harare International Festival of the Arts comedy shows. The co-founder of Simuka Comedy was in a league of his own at Royal Norwegian Embassy Dome comedy show over the weekend. Doc Vikela was headlining the show that featured equally talented comedians Sam "Cde Fatso" Monro and Learnmore "Long John" Mwanyenyeka.

It was the case of saving the best for last with comedian Doc Vikela going on stage towards the end of the show.

"I am a shy person. But I use rhumba to strike the chord when I start my shows," he said about his signature entrance of dancing his way on to the stage.

The comedian was quick to tear into various arts disciplines coming up with his hilarious versions of the origins of traditional dance moves of African countries.

No one was safe from the comedian as he mocked various personalities as well.

Doc Vikela did not spare local and regional football as he joked about how the South African and Zimbabwe national teams rarely score during matches.

The comedian spoke on his successful campaign at Hifa:

"The brand has taken off to international levels. People are used to my Suluman Chimbetu and Mai Chisamba jokes but this time the material was different.

"My jokes are tailor made for specific audiences. However, big shows are coming up and people can expect collaborative comedy shows that will feature Albert Nyathi, Probeats and Tariro NeGitare among others."

The supporting acts did not disappoint as well as they put their best foot forward.

Long John, who opened the show, seemed to have the last laugh as he turned the tables, cracking jokes that are usually made about his height

The 22-year-old, who was also a newcomer at Hifa, had a good day in the office passing the baton after 15 minutes.

Cde Fatso's targets for satire were politicians as usual but this time he had something to say about power utility company Zesa.

The show that was presented by Lafarge in partnership with Shoko Festival Zimbabwe.

Comedian Michael K played host during the event.
