GOtv Malawi a branch of MultiChoice Malawi on Saturday finally launched the Digital Terrestrial Service (DTT) GOtv at Mzuzu Stadium in Mzuzu.

The event attracted interest from Mzuzu residents who came in large numbers during the launch whose climax was a GOtv Challenge soccer match between Moyale Barracks and Bullets FC.

The launch came after the GOtv whose decoders have since been reduced from K34,100 to K16,999, has eluded the Northern region following its launches in Lilongwe and Blantyre.

The event started with a carnival in Mzuzu city where musician Lucius Banda and his Zembani Band as well as Nepman performed attracting attention from people in Chibavi and Katawa areas among others.

MultiChoice Malawi Sales and Marketing Manager Chimwemwe Nyirenda said they are happy that finally they have launched GOtv in Mzuzu and that people have embraced it.

During the launch people were seen buying the GOtv decoders in selling points which were mounted at the stadium.

The launch also saw the unveiling of the GOtv decoder by the Ingoma dancers before the GOtv team performed dancing to the GOtv theme song which was created by several musicians including Lucius.

While in Lilongwe several artists were available performing the theme song during the launch, in Mzuzu it was only Lucius who performed backed by the GOtv team.

The launch also saw soldiers from Kaning'ina showing their prowess in their performance in acrobatics.

After the soccer match, fans were treated to a performance by Nepman, whose hit 'Nalelo,' earned him chants with people shouting Nalelo!Nalelo even after Lucius had jumped on stage.

The event was graced by Minister of Youths and Sports Grace Chiumia and Mayor of the City of Mzuzu.

Nyirenda said GOtv gives people access to over 30 exciting local and international channels and these include MBC tv, Times TV, Hope Channel, Luso TV, Timveni, ZBS and Joy TV. The others are CNN International, Discovery World, Disney Junior and One Gospel.

There were however, some gaps in the activities, some of which could not stand out on an open space and needed to be revisited.
