Hear us Children leave for Spain tomorrow

Music Cross roads Hear Us Children is set to perform in Spain next week. The group leaves for Spain tomorrow for performances starting this Sunday, April 12 up to Friday May 8.
"I hope people in Spain will experience something a little different than what they are used to," said tour leader and choir conductor, Lackson Chazima.

He said they will perform in six cities, including Bacelona and Madrid.
"We are going to visit, perform and hold music workshops in more than 10 public primary schools of St Cugat in Barcelona and these workshops aimed at sharing traditional dances, folk songs and music knowledge. There will also be activities in some public schools to learn from their daily schedules and we shall also go deep in social-cultural exchange, thereby giving a chance to know cultures of both countries," he added.
Music Crossroads Malawi is currently working with Petis Music Del Mon, from Spain, since 2009 in the areas of music education for children and teachers using Malawian folk songs and music. The title of this year's performance production is Nsembe presentation and will be accompanied by Tchopa. They will also present three traditional dances: Sisila,Manganje and Beni.
Hear us Children started in 2011 and through the same project Music Crossroads has been training teachers from 20 schools within Lilongwe on how they can teach music to children in class as well helping them understand the pedagogy of expressive arts.
The children are handpicked from different primary schools around Lilongwe for auditions. After that, organisers make home visits to find students would afford school on their own, according to Chazima.
They then go to a training centre before the tour to learn songs and vocal training. As they travel, sharing their voices and singing songs, they also give people advocacy information about advocate and raise awareness not only about their plight and rights, but also aspiration in life and to discover as well as participate in their cultural life and promoting our national heritage.
