Metics Street Dance Crew on Saturday made history when they became the first winners of the Ka Jive Dance Competition spearheaded by Times Television under the slogan Tivine Zimenezi claiming the K1 million grand prize at Robin's Park in Blantyre.

The group, made up of Daniel Mlundira, King Kamichonjo and Mathews Kamala, was mobbed by the audience on stage soon after Chief Judge Sam Kabambe declared them the winners.

"We just want to thank God for this, it was not easy but our hard-working spirit has paid off. We have been together throughout and we are dreaming big," said the trio.

Apart from the K1 million, the winners also received scholarships of their choice up to Diploma level, , courtesy of Techno Brain and also a K10,000 shopping voucher courtesy of Dan Lufani's partner Emmie.

The runners up were Floor Steppers while Asap Movement came third. The two received scholarships for MS Office and graphics course from Techno Brain and shopping vouchers from Devraj.

Five other finalists were: Dope Crew, Ray, Tron, Owen Chimbaya and Twist.

A heavy downpour did not dampen the spirits as the grand finale attracted an impressive audience, dominated by the youth and saw the presence of Times Media Group Managing Director Leonnard Chikadya and Blantyre City South Member of Parliament Allan Ngumuya.

Host Blak Jak, who is also a Times TV presenter, distributed some T-shirts to people courtesy of Airtel Malawi. The grand finale was beamed live on Times Television.

Some of the artists, who spiced up the event, include Tay Grin, Maskal, Piksy, Mafo, Theo Thomson and Gwamba.
