The OUAGA FILM LAB 2021 team announces the extension of the call for projects to participate in the 6th edition of the Lab. The new deadline to register your project on the website www.ouagafilmlab.net is Friday, June 4th, 2021.

For its 6th edition, Ouaga Film Lab renews its call for projects for feature films in development, fictions or documentaries. The following call for projects is opened to African project promoters (which director is coming from West, Central or Great Lakes Africa ; and the producer from any African country), in the field of cinema.

Ouaga Film Lab is a meeting platform for young talents from the continent and
international consultants. It establishes a direct two-way dialogue: between the African
talents themselves and with professionals from the whole world; promoting, networking
and exchanging around the inherent difficulties of film production, both locally and
internationally.

Ouaga Film Lab is the first development and co-production laboratory in West Africa. Its
main purpose is to strengthen the competitiveness of directors and producers of the
countries of the sub-region in the various international laboratories and to facilitate their
access to local financing funds, international co-productions and their close collaboration with
confirmed mentors from the continent.

As since its 4th edition, the call is to opened to professionals from West, Central or Great Lakes Africa, who fit the criteria set out in the 2021 regulations.

At the end of the call for projects, a committee will select 10 film projects that will be
invited to participate in the 6th edition of Ouaga Film Lab. The main selection criterias are
the artistic quality of the presented projects, as well as the sensitivity of the topic addressed.

It must meet the criteria set out in the regulation and be made before the June 4th 2021 at 00:00 GMT.
The file must be written in French or English.
Any candidate (director or producer) has the right to submit maximum 2 projects.

This file includes:
-The synopsis or a treatment of 10 pages maximum or 15000 characters,
- The director's note of intent (maximum 1 page),
- The producer's note of intent (maximum 1 page),
- The curriculum vitae (focused on the filmography) of the director,
- The curriculum vitae (focused on the filmography) of the producer,
- The presentation of the production company,
- The detailed budget of the project (in local currency and in euros)
- The copy of the director's passport
- The copy of the producer's passport
- A Vimeo or YouTube link from the director's last film, subtitled in French or English (short films and feature films are accepted).

At the end of this week of training, meetings and pitching of the projects, several prizes will be given to the best projects, so they can participate to international script writing residencies or coproduction markets.

The 6th edition of OUAGA FILM LAB will take place by mid-October 2021 in Ouagadougou - the exact dates will be communicated as soon as possible, depending on the evolution of the sanitary situation. It's organized in close collaboration with Sud Ecriture (Tunisie), EAVE (European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs), the French Institute (IF Paris, IF Burkina Faso, the Fabrique des cinémas du monde, the Cinémathèque Afrique), the Moulin d'Andé, the Festival international de film documentaire d'Agadir in Morocco (FIDADOC), the Groupe Ouest (France), and Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg (Germany) ; as well with the support of the Swiss Office for Cooperation in Burkina, the Centre National du Cinéma et de l'image animée (CNC), the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF), the Goethe Institute of Ouagadougou, Canal Plus, TV5MONDE and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Burkina Faso.
