The project

Reasons for this project
As part of their will to contribute to the development of contemporary dance in Burkina Faso and in Africa, Choreographers Auguste OUEDRAOGO and Bienvenue BAZIE launched the project Engagement Féminin. The reason for this is that few female artists commit themselves to choreographic creation.
Indeed, despite the fact that contemporary dance has been evolving in Africa these past years, few female dancers do exist and the existing ones do not take artistic initiatives like creating companies, creating choreographic pieces, organizing tours or holding dance workshops, etc.
This project aims at creating the conditions for the emergence of a new generation of professional female dancers/choreographers by offering opportunities to African dancers to strengthen their capacities in dance through long-term dance workshops, residencies and tours.
