Rising reggae sensation Sasha Dias makes her international debut with her first album Break Free, now available worldwide in stores and online (released on June 17, 2014), from FOX FUSE. Flowing with original songs, classic covers and stimulating melodies, covering everything from reggae to reggaeton to pop, Dias is bound to make her mark on the global music scene.
Boasting 14 reggae gems, Break Free features original compositions such as the title song "Break Free," "That's It" and "Walk Away," to the reggaeton and pop infused "Boom" and "Four Leaf Clover," to her breezy cover of pop queen Celine Dion's "Power of Love." "I've been performing Celine Dion's 'Power Of Love' since was I was 16," discloses Dias. "It's one of my favorite songs and I'm so excited to have it on my very first album."
It also includes a sizzling cover of "Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough," a duet with reggae crooner Terry Linen. They just filmed the video for the soulful single and Linen is thrilled about the collaboration with this rising star. "Sasha is a spiritual singer, a good girl," states Linen. "The business needs that, people will love her."
Dias found popularity on social site YouTube, after recording and posting dozens of music videos that cover artists like Beyonce, Rihanna, Pink and Katy Perry, and her videos have racked up tens of thousands of views for the budding artist. "I don't want to be limited to just one style of music," explains Dias. She lists her favorite artists as reggae and dancehall stars Buju Banton and Sanchez, R&B icons Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson and Whitney Houston, and pop queens Taylor Swift and Celine Dion. And with a potpourri of reggae, R&B, pop, reggaeton and soul fused to form her own album, Dias has something for everyone.
This Florida-based songstress has strong roots in Jamaica's music and culture. Her grandfather and musical mentor is veteran Jamaican singer Winston Dias (of "Cericy Tea" fame), and who has performed everything from reggae to R&B as a singer with the Drifters. Her mother, father and cousins also performed musically. By age 13, Dias joined her cousin and a friend in creating R&B girl group 3 Charmz, which charmed audiences in South Florida throughout her high school years.
Now, Dias is receiving raves for her singing career. "I'm learning how to play the guitar so I can hear the notes while I'm singing, and it's helping me to be a better songwriter," she reveals. "My goal is to produce because I want to be with my music from the start to finish." Dias' inspiring journey, talented vocals and genre-bending sound are sure to make her album a favorite for music fans everywhere.
