A trip to Zambia for a role in a film by Malawi's rising actress Flora Suya, has resulted in another opportunity for the African Movie Academy Awards nominee.
Suya left Malawi last week for Lusaka for a role in an upcoming series, just three months after the release of Chenda, a Zambian film which she featured.
It was her third after appearances in award winning Charles Shemu Joyah's Seasons of a Life and The Last Fishing Boat.
"I came here to act in local series in Zambia by Mingeli Palata. As I was waiting to go on location, I heard that Muvi TV was conducting auditions for actors and I decided to give it a try. " she said in an interview.
Suya was offered a role by Muvi TV but had to turn it down.
"The auditions were great. Many people impressed us with their performances. I was given a role in Family Affairs but the period they wanted me to be around is long. It was a one year contract and they plan to be shooting every week," she explained.
Instead, Suya will go ahead with the role she went to Zambia for, in the meantime.
"We were supposed to start shooting on Sunday but we need to make some changes to the story. That will take a few days but as soon as that is done, we are up and rolling. The title is Matters of the heart," stated the actress.
She is judging alongside Zambia's renowned film maker Mingeli Palata who has productions running in about eight African countries. One of his series Mailiposa was recently nominated at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards for best series in Africa.
The other Judge is Seidlitz Nkhonjera Jnr, a film maker with a rich repertoire, including Zambia's most happening hit comedy currently, PaJob, which runs on Muvi TV, among others.
