Ever since Bing Crosby starred in the 1930 film "King of Jazz," countless musicians have tried, with varying degrees of success, to parlay their musical ability into a side career in film. Our own Zimbabwean rapper Tendai Nguni, affectionately known as Tehn Diamond, could be featuring as both singer and actor in the upcoming movie "Judges".

The Herald has learnt that the rapper will be playing Clyde, a young man in his mid 30's in a movie that also includes Rutendo Tapiwa Chigudu, Daves Guzha and Joe Njagu.

In an interview, the "Happy" hit maker said he is excited to play the role.

"I am excited because people will see the other side of Tehn, I am going to play Clyde, who is a young illustrator in his mid 30's. Ironically the character is more like my life story as it has similarities with my life," he said.

He said he is just returning to what he first fell in love with back in high school.

"Acting is just me returning to one of my earliest trades. Before I even got hold of the mic to sing, I spent most of my high school days doing drama at the Reps Theatre", he said.

Tehn diamond said acting has brought him a different experience.

"Well, it is now different from the stage, I am now just expressing myself through words and actions so the emotions and the reality of it are seemingly linked.

"It is now a matter of constantly tapping into someone's character and I am good at that, may be that is why I was chosen to play the role", he said.

He said he is never quitting music.

"I know people will think I have quit my music but that is not my case, music lives in me and it is my greatest passion", he said. The rapper has promised his fans to brace for an exciting movie.

"I just hope me and the other guys form the production will put up the best performance for our audience. My producer Wanisayi's vision for the movie is what even got me keen to be part of the cast, it is so appealing to real life situations and I hope my fans will support me and enjoy the movie", he said.

The artiste also said he is currently working on releasing his album titled "The Perfect Tehn", which is going to be out soon.

He is going to be doing a number of shows in the run up to his album launch.
