The multi-million dollar global fashion industry has successfully maintained its status through global trends driven by markets, society and personalities, events, fashion weeks, TV shows, commercials, social media and the like. Africa has already found its space in the global fashion scene and has already made great strides in the branding and marketing of African fashion. Kenya as an East African powerhouse still has a lot to do in the fashion sector. Nonetheless much effort has sprung in the last decade with local designers and models making it into international platforms to stun the world.

Kisumu Fashion Week as a true example of humble beginnings will remain as one of the many platforms that will contribute as a springboard to the global scene as well as becoming an international platform itself.

Kisumu Fashion Week wants to open up space and opportunities for Kenyan fashion designers to move this industry fast forward. The networking and training workshop series will provide training and insights that will empower the actors in the industry towards making major steps to compete on the global scene. Through transmission and sharing of professional expertise and experiences they will be able to identify challenges and opportunities within the sector so as to initiate immediate interventions that will help Kenya catch up with the rest of the world.

The workshop is intended for Kenyans actively engaged in the fashion sector. These being designers, models, fashion photographers, fashion event organizers, fashion and design students, mainstream and social media as well as the Government.

The 3 day networking and training workshop will run sessions on topics as led by professional trainers and moderators. The Kisumu Fashion Week wants to invite the rest of the Kenya to the city of Kisumu and thus this event will be open to participants from all over the country. Participants will apply to take part in this event and will be drawn from a wide range of professionals and amateurs of the Kenyan fashion industry.
